LRR, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, volunteer organization dedicated to placing purebred Labrador Retrievers in suitable, loving homes. Incorporated in 1988, we are the original rescue organization for Labrador Retrievers in New England.

Labs come into our program only from our area and are adopted only within our area. We serve only Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. If you live anywhere else, find a Lab rescue organization near you.

We are not affiliated with any other rescue organization, despite some similar names. We do not place Labs over the Internet.

LRR has been placing Labs in suitable, loving homes for more than 20 years. LRR is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors and staffed largely by volunteer workers made up of LRR adopters, Labrador breeders, and dog trainers. We stand behind each adoption with support from experienced, knowledgeable volunteers who love the Labrador Retriever breed.

We foster each Lab in a loving foster home, not a large, institutional kennel. We screen adopters by visiting their homes, with our own Labs, and writing a detailed home study report. People who adopt a new "best friend" from LRR find that the time, effort, and loving care we take in matching adopter and Lab—along with our lifetime take-back guarantee on any Lab we place—is a successful formula few rescues can match.

What's new

Labrador Retriever Rescue, Inc. is participating in the Speaking for Spot Gives Back program. Speaking for Spot is a book written by the acclaimed veterinarian, Dr. Nancy Kay, about how to effectively advocate for your dog at the vet's. Under this program, LRR receives a portion of the proceeds for every book purchased through the Speaking for Spot website when the buyer selects Labrador Retriever Rescue from the pull-down menu or downloads, prints, and mails this form to pay by check rather than online with PayPal.

What do you love about your Rescue Lab?

If you've adopted a Lab from Labrador Retriever Rescue, Inc., you can now submit your own "success story" for our website. You do not need to have a "dramatic" tale to relate; we all love to read stories about the joy, mischief, and simple, everyday pleasures a Rescue Lab brings to a household.

How do you identify a "reputable" rescue?

We discovered this informative and useful article on the Wisconsin Dog Rescue's website about how to recognize a reputable animal rescue organization. Since our inception more than 20 years ago, Labrador Retriever Rescue, Inc.'s policies have been consistent with this definition of a reputable rescue.
