Success story: Murphy

BFF! Best friends forever on “their” couch after a long, hard day of playing!
Here’s a letter from a family who adopted “Murphy” from Labrador Retriever Rescue as a companion for their other Lab, “Wylie.”
I think Murphy is feeling pretty comfortable here with us. There was really no adjustment period; he just sort of became a member of our family, instantly! Wylie adores him…wants to play more than Murphy (he's a bit on the lazy side!), but he lets Wylie know if he doesn't want to play and then all is fine. More often than not he'll join in the fun.
The most exciting part of Murphy joining our family is that his being here seems to have mellowed Wylie in such a way that his seizures have decreased dramatically! He went two full weeks with only one mild seizure, a first! Since then he's had 3-4 seizures but very mild in comparison, and all could be attributed to his being startled or upset in some way. Thank you all for helping us find Murphy!
We haven't gotten Murphy to take a dip in the pool yet, though neither have I with this weather! The boys have been in the pool and Wylie will jump in for a swim but Murphy seems to be nervous and stands at the top of the stairs watching. When Wylie swims back to the stairs, Murphy tries to pull him out of the water! We have a small pool for the dogs in the yard and they do both stand in that and splash around a bit.
Yesterday we all went for a hike. This was the first time we felt comfortable letting them off leash and they did great! Both had a lot of fun, found lots of mud to romp in, and were exhausted for the rest of the day (as was I). We are so happy to have found Murphy. He's a great addition to our family and I want to thank all of you again for helping us to find him.
