Beckett and Prince

A note from proud new parents:

Actually, two success stories. Our first LRR dog was Prince, a handsome black male (obviously, otherwise he’d be Princess!) He had a “zipper” nose, a linear cowlick that ran down his snout. Anyway, Prince was a perfect dog for us in that he was sweet, gentle with everything, loved to swim and retrieve without going overboard about it, and enjoyed petting and cuddling up to me when I took my nappie on the floor after lunch. Originally LRR had tried to place Prince together with his sister, Paloma, but hadn’t been able to so they were split up. After a few years we contacted LRR and they helped arrange for a get-together with Paloma, which was fun for all involved.

As Prince got older, his rear hips started to give out, but he was always a trooper and did his best and lasted until he was 14.

We took a year off to make travel a little easier, but eventually put in another call to LRR for another gentle Lab. We wanted a black female and got a yellow male, but Beckett IS gentle with all he meets. He was 8 at the time, a little older than we would have liked, but like all LRR dogs he needed a loving home. After only a few days, we wondered “how could anyone bear to give up this guy…he’s great.” OK, he doesn’t retrieve or swim or even like to play all that much, but he is a gentle, loveable companion and that is just what I was looking for as a retiree.
